Valletta Film Festival is a relatively new film festival started in 2014, and is the biggest cinematic event in Valletta, Malta. It gained popularity over a short period of time and became a good reason to travel to Malta in early Summer.
In 2019, for the first time, the festival will introduce a competition devoted to productions originating from thirty-four small nations in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Twelve feature films or documentaries will be competing for a number of awards in the feature-length category of the festival, and up to twenty-four short films will be selected to compete for the best short film.
The movies will be screened in both open-air and indoor venues across the city.
