The Tollwood Summer Festival (plus winter edition) is an event held annually in Munich since 1988, and it held on an area of ~30,000 m2 with over 900,000 visitors over the course of the festival duration, which is not surprising as the rich and almost one month long program provides fun for all generations.
The Munich Tollwood Summer Festival has everything one would expect from a good summer event – excellent theater productions, concerts including the most diverse music genres from rock, pop, to world music, and food stalls with the finest food from all corners of the globe.
The motto of the Tollwood Summer Festival 2019 is “Easily Enough”, and, as described on the official webpage of the event, ““Earth Overshoot Day” falls as early as 2 May this year in Germany: that’s the day when the whole year’s worth of human living resources are actually used up. That clearly shows that we’re living beyond our means. We would have “easily enough” if we were to consume less, and if we met our needs more sensibly, ecologically and fairly; this is an approach that Tollwood promotes – and that we know is both simple and challenging”.
With nature and humankind in mind, the Tollwood Summer Festival offers a variety of theatre, cabaret and other types of performances, with dance from all over the world. The famous “Market of Ideas” offers organic food from about 20 nations and is organized in nicely decorated stalls including vegan and vegetarian food. At the same time, the Arts&Crafts area, with exhibition-like decoration, presents a variety of products from around the world.
