The Presidents Cup is a men’s golf tournament held every other year since 1994 (with some changes made due to September 11 attacks). It includes the US and other countries, except for Europe. The golf competition between the USA and Europe is called Riders Cup.
For those interested in seeing some celebrities, other than sportsmen, you might want to know that just in the 2017 edition, for the first time in the event's history, three former U.S. Presidents and the current U.S. President were on site for the Presidents Cup, held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.
There is no prize money awarded at the Presidents Cup. “Instead, each competitor designates charities or golf-related projects of his choice to receive a portion of the funds raised through the staging of each Presidents Cup. Since the inception of the 1994 Presidents Cup, more than $49.1 million has been raised for charity from event proceeds, including a record-breaking $10.7 million for charitable causes around the world following the 2017 Presidents Cup.” (As per official website)
Of the 12 matches, the United States team has won 10, the International Team has won 1, with 1 match tied.
The 2019 Presidents Cup will be held on December 9-15, 2019. It will be held in the prestigious Royal Melbourne Golf Club for the third time since the first competition and you can expect a great sports event with first-class parties and events.
